The Georgetown Cleaners Story![]() Georgetown Cleaners is a family owned business that started in 1959 by George Morris. It began as an unattended coin laundry located on the site of our previous North Main Street location (currently Walgreens), the first in Wisconsin and one of the first five nationally to offer self-service dry cleaning (a service that was eliminated in the early 1990's). Professional dry cleaning was added with the opening of our South Main Street location in 1968. That was also the same year that polyester fabrics hit the market.
It was tough times for all 14 dry cleaners in Fond du Lac and within the next two years, we watched as 13 of our competitors went out of business. Over the next 27 years we added uniform rental to our list of services (a business we sold in 1998), as well as opening our West Johnson Street location in 1994 (Sold in 2021). Additionally, Georgetown saw expansion with the opening of its Uniform sales and rental shop next door to our South Main location in 1995, and relocation of our Institches Embroidery division in 2001. In 2024, the business was purchased by the Pelletier Family, who continues to operate the establishment as a family owned and operated business. We offer several specialty services, including professional dry cleaning, shirt laundering, route services, free pick up / and delivery, custom alterations and repair, and self-service laundry. At Georgetown, we have consistently built our business by offering FAST, FRIENDLY, and PERSONALIZED SERVICE at a competitive price. Our goal is to provide you, our customer, with outstanding customer service everyday. |
